We started where the hard problems were.
Roha Labs began with telecom — the part of the stack most software companies route around. Answering a subscriber who dials a short code means speaking the mobile network's own signaling language, holding each session straight, and clearing a charge in real time while the customer waits. There is no framework for that. You learn it by building it and running it.
That work set the standard for everything after it. Systems that sit inside a carrier network have to be correct under load, observable when something drifts, and safe to change on a Tuesday afternoon.
The same engineering turned out to matter well beyond telecom. A hospital dispensing medication, a school running its results, a marketplace holding money in escrow between two strangers — these are all systems where being almost right is being wrong.
So the work widened into health, education, commerce and fintech, while the standard stayed where telecom set it. Today the catalogue runs to 31 platforms across 7 sectors — built here, and built to keep running.
Four things we do not compromise on.
Build it to run
A demo proves an idea; a platform has to survive a Monday morning. We design for the day it is under load, the day a dependency fails, and the day someone new has to understand it.
Go deep, not wide
Connecting to a mobile network's signaling layer or clearing a charging transaction is not something you learn from a tutorial. We work where the difficulty is real, because that is where the value is.
Own the whole stack
From the signaling layer to the dashboard someone actually clicks. Owning both ends means the seams between them are ours to get right, not somebody else's to argue about.
Say what is true
Status on this site means what it says. Nothing is described as running in production unless it is, and we would rather show you a smaller honest list than a longer flattering one.

We are based in Ethiopia and the work is done here. Being close to the operators and institutions we build for is an advantage: we understand the networks, the regulations and the realities on the ground, because we work inside them.
